The Piping Wire uses your selected interests and follows to personalise My Wire. You can also browse public information without an account.

Account information

Supabase handles sign-in and stores your profile, interests, follows and saves. Essential session cookies keep you signed in. Other readers cannot see your private preferences.

Email briefings

Digests are optional. Resend processes delivery to your email address. Each briefing includes unsubscribe controls. We do not include tracking pixels. Bounces and complaints suppress future digests.

When you request the Friday briefing, we temporarily store your email, the request time and a broad campaign label from the signup link. The confirmation request expires after one hour. Requests older than 30 days are removed when a new request is made. Completed consent is recorded with your account. Campaign labels help us understand which invitations lead to confirmed subscriptions; they do not track your browsing across websites.

Your recommendation feedback

More like this and Less like this are deliberate preferences. We keep your latest choice per story and use its topics, entities and source to suggest related material. Older choices gradually have less influence. Hide removes a story from My Wire and future briefing selection. These records are private to your account. We do not use reading time or browsing on other websites to learn your interests.

In Preferences you can disable feedback-based suggestions, or clear all feedback and derived affinities immediately. Disabling suggestions keeps hidden stories hidden; clearing feedback restores them. Choices remain stored until cleared or your account is deleted, with a maximum of 500 story choices per account.

Editorial processing

Only approved public source metadata and short permitted excerpts are sent to OpenAI for classification. Reader profiles and email addresses are not included in those requests.

Product measurement

The service records account actions such as saves, follows, completed onboarding and digest sends. It does not use third-party advertising trackers.

We also count page views by broad area, clicks to join and source-link opens. These aggregate counts contain no anonymous visitor identifier, IP address, search text or full page address. For signed-in members, we record the UTC day visited to count returning readers, not which pages they read or how long they stayed. This measurement uses no additional cookies or browser storage and honours Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. The growth report is private to the owner.

Growth counts and member visit days use a rolling 90-day window; older records are removed when new activity is recorded. Member visit records are also removed when the account is deleted.
